Hip Hop concerts @ LACMA
- Monthly on the 3rd Thursday

Dear Muse member, I grew up on Springsteen before spending most of my adolescent years listening to punk rock, so you might find it surprising that I'm starting a hip hop concert series at LACMA, along with a curator of contemporary art. It's called Through the Mic: LACMA X Hip Hop. It's such an exciting project that I wanted to share the news with you personally. There are many successful museum concert series-from our own Friday night Jazz at LACMA series to a plethora of indie music series-music has a home in museums. What's notably missing, however, is hip hop. This is omission is glaring, since it is, in my opinion, the most culturally significant musical genre of our generation. I'm thrilled to say that LACMA has recognized this void, along with co-curator-none other than hip hop artist Murs, whose group 3MG reunites after a five-year hiatus to kick off the series on May 17. The series continues every third Thursday of the month through October. Muse members have three days of exclusive access to ticket reservations before the public. Tickets are very limited so be sure to reserve yours now before they sell out. Tickets are just $10 for members and can be purchased starting at 5 pm at http://www.lacma.org/event/3mg. For a great meal surrounding the concert, make a reservation at Ray’s, hailed by Esquire as “One of the best new restaurants of 2011” and by the Los Angeles Times as “a feast for the senses.”
Hope to see you there!
